| Lift Off! Like a Rocket and Rock, The Round Up Boys Rhythm Bomb Records CD 5601
The Roundup Boys from Berlin are one of Germany's best live acts. The band was founded by singer Michael Kirscht in the summer of 1996. They toured all over Europe in the past 7 years, and even won the Hemsby talent contest in 1999. Now, finally, their first CD, recorded at the Lightnings Studio in Berlin, is out on Ralph Braband's new Rhythm Bomb label. 16 tracks and only 3 cover songs, that's an A+ for creativity to start with. Another plus for the rockabilly fans is that the record sounds real authentic, as if it was recorded in the 50s. And the music itself... man you just never wanna stop the bop. "Bandstand Rock" got me the goosebumps first time I heard it, top notch rockabilly all the way, including the covers of Hoyt Johnson's "Standing In Your Window", Ray Stanley's "Tood-A-Loo" and Conway Twitty's "Need Your Lovin' Kiss". I bet we haven't heard the last from these guys yet... Tracklisting: The Round Up Boys are: Contact information: Rhythm Bomb Records Reviewed by The BlackCat, 2003 |
